It’s jittery being a journalist. Too many deadlines. Too much coffee. Which is why I once tried the relaxing art of visualisation.
We had to lie down and think of a place we knew and loved. Somewhere we’d been happy, a place of peace and calm. The idea was to learn to go there in our minds whenever life was too much and we needed to unwind.
It was lovely and quite effective. And yes, you guessed it. The ten of us in the class had all taken ourselves off to somewhere we’d been on holiday. Travel without airports. Can you think of anything nicer?
And despite those long security queues, the benefits of a good holiday really can last for months – years even.
I’m hoping you’ll find your special place in this web magazine. A white sandy Maldivian shore perhaps? The shade of an olive tree in Crete? The lapping waves of the Caribbean on the Mexico coast? Maybe a table for two on a Paris boulevard at dusk is more your thing? We have the best writers on hand to transport you, and experienced travel experts to serve up the facts and advice.
And where did I travel to on that classroom carpet? Well, I got pretty worked up and unrelaxed just trying to decide. But much as I like you all – and thank you so much for your emails – I’m not telling. Go and find your own piece of heaven on earth.
Some of the content of the magazine refers to flights or prices from the UK. At Travel Counsellors Ireland we can source flights from Ireland and provide full quotes in Euros. Please call me for latest availability and prices.
